We started off
in the year 1997, when Internet was not even a year old in
India. Infact, at the time we entered the market there were just
a few companies around, offering web pages and not websites, and
that also at exhorbitant prices. We remember, you
could get a single page like http://<service providers domain>/<yourname> for about $400
per annum. |
At that juncture we introduced the concept of
websites with a Domain in the country, we started offering 10 Mb
Webspace for about $80 per annum, and to be able to create
awareness amongst customers that web pages were not the thing to
have, we started offering web pages for as low as $6 per annum.
Came the year 1998, uptill then the only way to book a domain
was to visit http://internic.net (later http://networksolutions.com) and pay them $100 (later $70)
in USD. We signed up with Network Solutions in 1998, and were
the 1st Partner of Netsol in India, and one of the initial few
partners worldwide for Netsol. Thanks to the
partnership, we started offering domains to the Indian Public in
Indian Rupees. And
this was the onset of a New web revolution in the Indian market.

As in any industry, you have lot of followers. Came 1999, and the market was flooded with web hosting companies. We took the
lead than, and started offering Reseller packages, whereby we
offered the reseller the option to setup Unlimited Domains. And
Voila, we gathered around 6,000 resellers as our customers in
1999. This was the largest reseller network, any web hosting
company could dream of
In 1999 itself, Netsol acknowledged our hard work, and awarded
us the Best Partner award. And there was nothing stopping us. In
the year 2000, we became the 1st Gold Partner of Netsol in
India, and the 2nd Gold Partner of Netsol in Asia-Pacific. And
if you remember, the year 2000, was the year when Netsol started
loosing it's grip over the market when competition came in ...
and other domain registrars came in. Inspite of this fact, we
achieved the Gold partner status, thanks to our reseller network
which we had in place.
By the end of the year 2000, things started changing in the
industry. Dot-coms started busting. That was the time we started
spreading ourselves. We started offering various value added
which would add to our revenue, and we stepped into offering
E-Commerce Solutions, selling Internet related Softwares like
Mail Servers, Proxy Servrs, and various others like Chat
Servers.
Year 2001, things became worse, web hosting companies started
closing shop, we realised it was high time to start automating
... we tied up with Plesk, and started offering Plesk off our
servers, and even started selling it to fellow web hosting
companies and bundling it with our Dedicated Servers /
Co-location Servers.
By this time, the clients had started realising the importance
of Quality ... we signed up with Exodus, as their Regional
Alliance Partners and Service Providers ... to get an edge over
our competitors. |
